In-clinic COVID-19 PCR Swab Test (Fly certificate and Return to work)

MASTA is pleased to offer In-clinic COVID-19 PCR Swab Tests in many of our clinics nationwide.

You will visit a MASTA clinic, where nurse or a pharmacist will take a swab sample from your throat and nose.

The sample will undergo laboratory analysis for detection of the live coronavirus indicating a current infection.

Return to work & international travel regulations are changing rapidly, please ensure you check with your employer, airline and the Foreign Common Office website.

How Does the Coronavirus PCR Test In-Clinic Work?
A MASTA clinician will take your throat and nose swab sample in-clinic during an appointment.
Your swab sample will be sent to our laboratory to identify whether the COVID-19 virus is present. A positive test will indicate that you are currently infected with COVID-19.
Please note that due to post office cut off times, on occasions patients may be asked to post their own cv19 test samples

In-clinic coronavirus PCR swab test in-clinic is currently available at our MASTA clinics in Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Central London, Southampton, Surrey, Cambridge and Harrogate.

How and when do I obtain my results and certificate?
Once your test is booked, you should attend the clinic at your designated appointment time where the clinician will carry out the swab test. You will usually receive your results within 2-3 working days after our partner lab receives your sample (but it could take longer). Once your results are ready we will send these to you in a secure email. You will need a password to access your results.
If you require a test [and certificate] for a flight, we would recommend that you book your test well ahead of time. It is your responsibility to check the travel requirements of the airline and country you are travelling to, as well as to ensure your results are received in the time frame required by the airline and country].

Can I use this PCR test to help me with international travel and return to work?
Yes – You may also be able to use this test as a means of supporting entry to another country or for return to work purposes.
Different countries and employers have different regulations, and these regulations are changing rapidly. You must check with your employer, insurer and airline as to their individual & specific constraints around travel & COVID-19 testing. This certificate helps to support the validity of your test result.

In-clinic Rapid COVID-19 Antigen tests and Antibody tests (past infection indicator) (Not accepted for all travel destinations, current infection indicator, ideal for peace of mind and return to work)

Antigen Test
An Antigen Test is a rapid test that detects for the presence of proteins (or antigens) made by the COVID-19 virus, meaning potentially you could see results from Day 1 of infection. The Antigen Test does not require laboratory analysis. Also known as Lateral Flow Test.
Our 15-Minute Antigen Test Kit, supplied by Healgen, has been assessed and passed by Public Health England.

Antibody Test
The presence of antibodies does not necessarily mean that the individual is protected against future Covid-19 infections. It is currently unclear whether COVID-19 antibodies provide immunity, and how long any immunity may last

Can I use the rapid antigen test to help me with international travel and return to work?
Yes – You may also be able to use this test as a means of supporting entry to another country or for return to work purposes.

About Coronavirus Antibody tests Analysis
Antibodies are proteins that indicate if you were previously infected with the virus.
The antibodies help to fight off the disease and are only produced by the body after infection has occurred. They can usually take 8-10 days to appear but can take longer.

How does the Coronavirus Rapid Antigen Test In-Clinic work?
A MASTA clinician will take your nose swab sample in-clinic during an appointment
You will obtain the results in only 15-20 minutes.

How does the Coronavirus Rapid Antibody Test In-Clinic work?
With results in only 10 minutes, the COVID-19 antibody test is a finger prick test which identifies if the body has developed an antibody response to a COVID-19 infection.
Blood samples are collected from a finger prick in-clinic, following strict PPE & distancing guidelines

What are the possible results of the Coronavirus Rapid Antigen Test In-Clinic and how do I get my results?
Your results, which will be positive (infection is present) or negative (infection is NOT present) and will be provided to you at your appointment (this usually takes 15 minutes)

In Clinic Test to Release Service (to reduce self-isolation period when entering into the UK)

Our Test to Release service is suitable if you are travelling back from overseas and are required to self-isolate. By taking this test, you will be able to reduce your self-isolation period from 10 days to 7 or 8 days, provided that your test results are negative.

MASTA is a Government-approved registered private provider for day 5 Test to Release for International Travel. We are currently not able to carry out COVID-19 testing on day 2 or day 8 after your return to the UK.

Am I required to self-isolate?
On your arrival back to the UK, you are required to self-isolate for 10 days.
However, you can choose to pay for a COVID-19 test to reduce your self-isolation period after you have been in England for 5 full days. If your test result is negative, you can stop self-isolating.
The scheme is voluntary and applies to those self-isolating in England only.
Please note that some travellers are not eligible to shorten their isolation period. For the most up to date Government guidelines follow this link

What should I do when I arrive in the UK?
Once you arrive in the UK, you should go straight to your self-isolation address. Please follow the Government’s guidelines on how to self-isolate. You can book your test with MASTA at any time, but remember you have to attend the clinic only when you have been in the UK for 5 full day since arrival.

When should I book my appointment for a test?
You should arrange your appointment on the fifth day of your self-isolation. For example, if you arrive in the UK on a Monday, the earliest you could book for a test would be on the following Saturday.

Do I need to bring anything with me for the test?
Please bring your passport with you. You will also be asked to provide some information about your recent travel, please remember to bring any travel details you have, for example, flight times and numbers.

When will my results be ready?
Your results will usually be ready 48-72 hours after your sample has been taken at our clinic.

How will I receive my results and the evidence I need to stop self-isolating?
You will be notified of your results by email. You can access the results by using a password provided. The results email will be the evidence required to legally stop self-isolating.

If I test negative, can I stop self-isolating?
Yes, a negative result means that you are legally allowed to stop self-isolating. However, you should continue to self-isolate if:

What if I test positive for Covid-19?
If you test positive for Coronavirus, you must continue to self-isolate. The length of your continued self-isolation depends on whether or not you have symptoms. If you do have symptoms, you must continue to self-isolate for 10 days from when your symptoms began. If you do not have symptoms, you should remain in self-isolation for 10 days from the day you took your test.
Those who you live with or have traveled with should also self-isolate for 14 days from the date that you took your test.
